       A salute to garlic!  There's a lot of garlic in this meal - but it's Friday and garlic is good for us.  It's all cooked so the flavor is mild.

Stuffed Mushrooms on Pesto Vinaigrette

Total time: 20 minutes
      These used to be standard party-fare, many years ago.  Made with bacon and cream cheese, they were always a hit.  I've updated them and made them a bit healthier... but not enough to spoil the wonderful creamy - bacon flavors.

Sautéed Shrimp (Prawns) in Lemon and Garlic Butter

Total time: 25 minutes
     The smell of garlic slowly cooking in butter is only improved by the addition of shrimp, lemon and parsley. You could substitute 1 tbs of olive oil for 1 tbs of the butter if you wish - or use all olive oil. But we don't (usually) eat a lot of butter, so we indulge in this recipe.

Broccoli with Garlic Chips  

Total time: 25 minutes
    Fry the garlic until it is a lovely golden brown.  The little chips are very tasty; not at all sharp like raw garlic, but not creamy like roasted.  If you prefer less garlic, just use the flavored oil - and let someone else munch on the chips.

Broccoli with Garlic Chips Ingredients:


Cooking Schedule: 30 minutes
Assemble all food, utensils and serving dishes
Utensils: measuring cups, spoons, knives,
small saucepan. lid, medium saucepan, steamer
basket, lid, medium skillet (used 2X), small skillet,
2 small bowls, baking sheet

Turn oven on, 400F (200C)
Fry bacon
Clean, trim mushrooms
Peel all garlic
Mince, slice garlic; keep separate
Turn bacon
Clean shrimp if needed
Cut broccoli
Remove bacon, drain, remove fat from skillet
Sauté mushroom caps
Mix goat cheese, yogurt
Turn mushroom caps
Crumble bacon, add to cheese, stir
Remove mushrooms, stuff mushrooms, bake
Sauté garlic for rice
Slice, squeeze lemon

Sauté paprika, garlic for shrimp
Start to fry garlic chips
Add rice to garlic, sauté
Add stock, lemon, thyme to rice, cover, simmer
Make pesto vinaigrette
Turn heat off under garlic for shrimp
Mind garlic chips
Remove mushroom caps
Steam broccoli
Turn heat off under garlic chips
Drizzle vinaigrette on plates, add mushrooms, serve
Mind the rice
Turn heat up under garlic chips and garlic for shrimp
Remove broccoli
Sauté shrimp
Turn shrimp
Remove garlic chips, drain
Fluff rice, arrange on platter
Finish broccoli
Add lemon, parsley to shrimp, heat
Spoon shrimp on rice, Serve
