Sweet and Sour Chicken
Sautéed Potatoes and Onions
Braised Savoy Cabbage with Bacon

     The chicken is not quite Chinese - so the potatoes will work just fine.  A proper French housewife would fry them in goose or duck fat... I use olive oil. This should finish the Savoy Cabbage.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

Total time: 30 minutes
     This is based on the Chinese Sweet and Pungent sauces, but with red wine and without the soy sauce.  A simple, skillet chicken.

Sautéed Potatoes and Onions

Total time: 30 minutes  
      A simple dish but so easy and full of flavor; cooking doesn't have to be complicated!

Fried Potatoes and Onions Ingredients:

Braised Savoy Cabbage with White Wine

Total time: 15 minutes 
    A bit of bacon adds flavor and color to cabbage.  This is a traditional French recipe.

 Instructions:

Cooking schedule: 30 minutes
Assemble all food, utensils and serving dishes
Utensils: measuring cups, spoons, knives,
3 medium skillets, 2 lids
Chop onion, divide
Mince garlic
Sauté onion for potatoes
Sauté onion for chicken
Cut chicken in half if large
Slice potatoes
Add garlic to onion for potatoes, sauté
Move onions to the side, add chicken to skillet, brown
Remove onion/garlic for potatoes, set aside
Add potatoes to skillet, sauté
Sauté bacon
Turn chicken
Tend potatoes
Add wine, stock, vinegar to chicken, heat

Add sugar to chicken, stir
Add bay leaves, cover chicken, simmer
Turn bacon
Mind the potatoes
Slice cabbage
Remove bacon, add cabbage, stir-fry
Add wine to cabbage, cover, cook
Tend potatoes
      Pause while stuff cooks
Add vinegar to cabbage, cook
Return onions to potatoes, sauté
Dissolve cornstarch in water
Increase heat under chicken
Stir cornstarch into sauce for chicken, thicken
Remove chicken, spoon sauce over
Finish potatoes
Crumble bacon, add to cabbage
Serve all and eat!
