Menu Plan for Winter I: Week 13, Sunday

Sausage and Spinach  Lasagne
Apple and Walnut Salad

Cooking time:  50 minutes for menu      Cooking schedule: see below for instructions

         The lasagne will be for two meals (or 4 people).  Use the rest of the tomato sauce from Friday.

Total time: 50 minutes
    This is a hearty lasagne, a bit more familiar, but with a few flavor twists: fresh spinach, sausage and a bit of green pepper.  Using no-cook noodles makes it all easy.

Apple and Walnut Salad

Total time: 10 minutes
   Perfect salad / dessert for fall or winter with my two favorite fall tree fruits:  apples and walnuts.

 Instructions:

Cooking Schedule: 50 minutes for menu
Assemble all ingredients and utensils
Utensils: measuring cups, spoons, knives,
large skillet, medium saucepan, medium baking dish,
medium bowl

Turn on oven 400F (200C)
Chop onion, pepper, garlic
Sauté onion, pepper, garlic in large skillet
Tend to spinach
Slice sausage, add to skillet
Open, tomatoes, roughly chop
Shred cheese
Add tomatoes, sauces, herbs to skillet, cover, simmer

Melt butter in saucepan
Add flour, whisk
Start adding milk, whisking and heating
Finish béchamel sauce
Assemble lasagne, cover and bake
    20 minute break
Check the lasagne - if done uncover, bake 5 min.
Mix yogurt, sugar, spices
Cut apples, add to yogurt, refrigerate
Remove lasagne and let rest
Cut lasagne and serve
Done?
Sprinkle Apple Salad with walnuts and serve
