Barbecued Chicken
Warm Potato Salad with Green Beans

       Summer isn't summer without barbecued chicken.  A whole chicken will probably give you a few pieces leftover for lunch; or you can just get your favorite pieces.  The barbecue sauce will keep for a week and we have other uses for it.  The Bean and Potato Salad is for 2 meals.  

Barbecued Chicken 

Total time: 60 minutes
  As it is assumed people want to do most things for themselves here, we have to buy the whole chicken and cut it up - otherwise we might not get the feet... Get a cut-up chicken or packages of your preferred pieces, freezing what you don't use for another day.

Warm Potato Salad with Green Beans 

Total time: 30 minutes
     Bacon and cider vinegar add the traditional flavors of Hot German Potato Salad.  The green beans and celery round it out, making it a great accompaniment to grilled meats.  Serve warm or room temp...  Or even right from the fridge!

Warm Potato Salad with Green Beans Ingredients:

 Instructions:

Cooking Schedule: 60 minutes
Assemble all ingredients and utensils
Utensils: measuring cups, spoons, knives,
small saucepan, large saucepan, steamer basket
and lid, large skillet, barbecue grill

Turn on/light barbecue grill
Put water on medium high heat for potatoes
Tend the chicken
Sprinkle with salt, pepper and paprika
Start to cook chicken
Cut potatoes, add to steamer basket
Top, tail, cut beans, add to steamer basket
Fry bacon in skillet
Put all ingredients for BBQ sauce in pan, simmer
Turn bacon
Chop onion, celery

Remove bacon, drain fat
Add onion, celery to skillet, sauté
Mind the chicken
Remove beans, potatoes from heat when done
Remove barbecue sauce from heat
Remove a bit of sauce for basting, baste chicken
Add stock, vinegar to celery, onion, boil
Dissolve cornstarch in water
Stir cornstarch mixture into skillet, thicken
Add beans, potatoes, stir to combine
Crumble bacon, add, stir, put in serving bowl
Baste chicken
       Stand around while chicken finishes
Baste chicken
When chicken is done, remove
Serve with barbecue sauce on the side
