This is a simple dinner, but full of the robust flavors of smoked sausages and red cabbage, tossed with pasta. If you didn't make the Red Cabbage you can buy ready-made to use in this dish... it' will be worth it.
Pasta with Smoked Sausage and Red Cabbage Time: 25 minutes
The slightly salty, sweet flavor of smoked sausage goes well with the sweet sour taste of the cabbage. The pasta just brings it all together. I used smoked bratwurst. Italian sausages would work... but something smoked is better! And a 3 ingredient meal ....perfect for busy holiday nights.
12 oz (350gr) smoked sausages
2 - 3 cups leftover red cabbage we'll have enough cabbage left for one more meal after this
1 1/4 cup pasta - penne, rigatoni, fusilli
Cook pasta according to package instructions - or boil it until it's done ...taste it! Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausages and brown well. Add cabbage, reduce heat, cover and simmer until sausages are done and cabbage is hot. When done, remove sausages and slice into 1" (2.5cm) pieces. When pasta is done drain and put into a big bowl. Add cabbage and sausage, toss to mix well and serve.
